Final piece. Ryan commented that he thought the color robs the piece of its detail until you get up close. I can't help but agree, but I have to say the painting was successful from my point of view. Unfortunately, this is the only shot I have of it. Maybe Ryan can send me a better shot outside of the frame glass.

The Pit and others

Pencil image scanned. It was large, and the image skewed a bit, but you get the idea. The others are ink drawings based on a variety of Poe's works with Lovecraft thrown in for mood. It has been increasingly difficult to pin down the exact way to capture a mood without being obvious. A few of my personal influences were, and are, very good at it. How do you suggest foul play without having the murdered body? An unexplained hat lying on the ground? Perhaps an image of a hallway mirror with some dark drops on the floor. Expect such things from me right now, as it is a bit of an obsession right now.

Art Show

Couple of pieces from an up and coming show. I'm a bit behind, but I'll be ready in time. The theme was going to be basically a graphic novel of the "Fall of the House of Usher," but I'll probably end up broadening the theme to just Poe's works, as the story is proving to be better read than drawn.

The entire show will not be in black and white, but the greater part will be. This is simply due to the fact that's how I draw, see things, and what I like. The larger pieces will be in color, smaller in black and white, or monochromatic. As I take the time, I'll put more here.
